CBS All Access’ Good Wife spinoff is giving Diane Lockhart some legal competition.
Delroy Lindo (The Chicago Code) has joined the offshoot as Robert Boseman, an attorney who poaches Diane’s associates and clients when she gets into financial trouble, threatening her ability to stay in business, the network announced Thursday.
The new series — debuting in February 2017 on CBS, before moving exclusively to the network’s streaming service CBS All Access — picks up one year after the events of the Good Wife finale. An enormous financial scam has wiped out Diane’s savings, while simultaneously destroying the reputation of her goddaughter Maia (Game of Thrones‘ Rose Leslie). Forced out of Lockhart & Lee, Diane and Maia join Lucca Quinn at one of Chicago’s preeminent law firms.
Lindo’s character “dominates every scene, intimidates every lawyer, and is beloved by every client,” executive producers Robert and Michelle King said in a statement. “He needs to look like a Chicago lawyer, but have a Shakespearean facility with language, and Delroy Lindo was really the only actor who came to mind.”
Lindo’s TV credits include Blood & Oil, Believe and Kidnapped.
