If you pre-ordered Google’s new Pixel phone and have yet to receive it, you’re probably pretty annoyed right now. But Google may have a peace offering for you.
As Phandroid reports, Google is offering $50 in Play credit for late Pixel deliveries. Several Reddit users have received an email from the Google Store team in recent days informing them of the credit, which should arrive via email after the phone is delivered. Here’s a copy of the letter one user received:
Hello there —
Thank you for your recent purchase on Google Store. We’re really excited for you to experience our new products, but we have some not-so-great news: It’s going to take a little longer for you to receive your package than we expected. We know this can be frustrating, but the good news is that we’ve shipped your order and it’s on its way.
You should’ve already received a shipment confirmation email from us. We’re also going to send you a $50 Google Play credit via email soon after your package is delivered.
Again, we’re so sorry — and thank you again for your order.
Sincerely,
If you’re still waiting for your Pixel to arrive, check your inbox for this message. At this point, it appears that the offer only applies to those who purchased the handset from the Google Store directly — so if you bought it from Verizon you’re out of luck.
Meanwhile, Verizon on Friday hit back at T-Mobile’s Pixel deal by offering up to $400 in account credit for new customers who switch carriers and purchase a Pixel or Pixel XL $769.99 at Verizon Wireless. Current Verizon customers, meanwhile, can get up to $300 in credit when trading in and purchasing one of the handsets.
