Google has launched a new “Discover” tool within its Google Play Books app and service.
Google says the tool is meant to help people find new books based on their interests and what’s popular around the web. For example, the Discover section will reveal what books are being made into movies, or what lands on NPR’s recommendations list.
The tool looks for news, reviews, lists, and videos about books and delivers these recommendations to readers in a way that’s easy to browse. Google will also look at recommendations based on users’ reading history and preferences, and will also point people toward the latest book reviews and editorial showcases that center on specific authors and/or subjects.
The new version of Google Play Books is headed to Android devices today and will reach iOS devices in the near future.
