GoPro has made a number of improvements to its action camera line, and has introduced the Hero3+. Offering a 20-percent smaller and lighter design than its predecessor and 30-percent more battery life, the Hero3+ boasts a new lens arrangement and new video capture modes, along with even more mounts and accessories.
The Hero3+ Black Edition’s lens is said to allow for “sharper video and improved image quality,” and has a Wi-Fi connection four times faster than before, making its accompanying GoPro mobile app more useful. An automatic low-light mode changes the frame rate for a better picture and an extreme wide-angle SuperView video mode are also introduced in the camera.
A new Hero3+ Silver Edition is also being announced at the same time. 15-percent smaller and lighter overall when installed in a waterproof housing, it can record 1080p video at 60fps and 720p video at 120fps, has an image processor that is twice as powerful as the Hero3 Silver Edition, and also has the same faster Wi-Fi connectivity.
The Black Edition of the Hero3+ is priced at $400, while the Silver Edition will sell for $300, with both editions available now.
