Ahead of New York Toy Fair, Hasbro and Saban have announced that Hasbro has been named the global master toy licensee for the entire Power Rangers franchise.
The announcement ends a twenty-five year partnership between the franchise and Bandai America, but the disappointment of both last year’s live-action film adaptation and its underwhelming accompanying merchandise sales were likely a key factor.
Hasbro will design, produce, and bring to market a wide variety of toys, games, and role-play items inspired by the long-running franchise with the deal kicking off in April 2019.
Additionally Hasbro, after an unspecified period of time, could eventually outright purchase the Power Rangers property from Saban Brands according to the press release.
