Infinity Data Systems has updated its Eudora-like e-mail client, MailForge, to version 2.1, making it Intel-only and giving it a major speed boost, along with a completely re-written search, improved junk filtering, CRAM-MD5 IMAP support, and other bug fixes. The program includes features inherited from the classic versions of Eudora, including very advanced search functions, editing ability on all facets of incoming mail and scheduled sending of e-mails. The program also has full Unicode support, the ability to re-direct e-mails, the now-familiar three-pane interface along with multi-window support and more.

The new v2.1 improves the speed of opening mailboxes, as well as transferring e-mails, and adds speeds to the search function as well as adding “search by date.” IMAP mail is also faster, and the mailbox display has been improved. Plans for future versions include GPG and Things integration, along with Smart Mailboxes and additional localizations.

The upgrade to v2.1 is free for all users of MailForge, even those who pre-registered prior to the first version. Classic Eudora is said not to be workable in OS X Lion due to the dropping of Rosetta support, so the company is offering MailForge at a discounted rate during May and June to encourage Eudora users to make the transition to an Intel-only client. The program will be priced at $10 during the promotion. The company offers free e-mail, Skype and telephone support: on Skype (and Twitter), it can be reached via username InfinityData.
