Deadline reports that Jack Reynor (Sing Street, Transformers: Age of Extinction), James Franco (Pineapple Express, 127 Hours), Zoe Kravitz (X-Men: First Class, Mad Max: Fury Road), and Dennis Quaid (The Day After Tomorrow) have signed on to star in the sci-fi thriller Kin. Jonathan and Josh Baker will direct the feature based on their short film Bag Man, which premiered at 2015’s SXSW.
The outlet reports that the feature will expand on the concept of the short and “revolves around a recently released ex-con (Reynor) and his adopted younger brother who are forced to go on the run. Chased by a vengeful criminal (Franco), the feds and a cadre of otherworldly soldiers, their only protection is a found weapon of mysterious ancestry. Quaid will play the father of the siblings, and Kravitz a young woman who joins them on the run.”
Daniel Casey has penned the script, which will be produced by 21 Laps’ Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen. Production begins on the film in October.
