Jason Chaffetz, the Republican Congressman from Utah, will join Fox News Channel and Fox Business Network as a contributor, the networks announced Wednesday. Chaffetz is slated to step down as a lawmaker on June 30th. His new role is expected to commence on July 1.
Chaffetz has represented Utah’s Third Congressional District since November, 2008, and recently announced he intended to step down from his role. He has served as the Chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, and was a member of the House Judiciary Committee. He has also served on the Homeland Security Committee. He has drawn attention for his roles in several government investigations, including into the operations of the Secret Service, and the attack at Benghazi. He had worked as a campaign manager and chief of staff to former Utah Governor Jon Huntsman Jr.
Before his political career, Mr. Chaffetz specialized in corporate communications and operated his own communications firm, Maxtera Utah Inc. He attended Brigham Young University, where he was a starting placekicker on the football team and later graduated with a B.A. in communications.
