Jeremy Piven has lined up his next TV role. The three-time Emmy winner has signed on to star in CBS‘ tech drama pilot Wisdom of the Crowd. Written by Ted Humphrey (The Good Wife), the project centers on a tech innovator who, inspired by the notion that a million minds are better than one, creates a cutting-edge crowdsourcing hub to solve his own daughter’s murder, as well as revolutionize crime solving in San Francisco.
Piven will play Jeffrey Tanner, a charismatic visionary determined to solve his daughter’s murder.
Humphrey will also executive produce the project, based on the Israeli format of the same name, along with Keshet Media Group CEO Avi Nir, Keshet International CEO Alon Shtruzman, Keshet Studios topper Peter Traugott and his longtime producing partner Rachel Kaplan as well as Dror Mishani and Shira Hadad. CBS Television Studios will produce in association with Universal Television, where Keshet has a co-production pact.
For Piven, the role comes following his four-season run on the PBS period drama Mr. Selfridge. Before that, the actor spent eight seasons on HBO’s Entourage playing agent Ari Gold, a role for which he won three Emmys and a Golden Globe. His other roles include Old School, Serendipity and the 2015 Entourage film. Piven is repped by UTA, Silver Linings Entertainment and attorney Patti Felker.
