It always sad to see people pull out their wooden shoes when faced with changes in technology and society, but you will see just that in the video below.
It’s simple: Because everyone can download books and newspapers, everyone who works at bookstores (Rep Jackson notes Borders going out of business) or the publishing industry, or for textbooks, will lose their jobs to the people making iPads in China.
Obviously he ignores all the wealth the iPad has created in America, and the fact that there are all kinds of other jobs that have been created around the iPad.
The world is about change and it is only going to get faster as time goes by. Every single technological innovation in the world has had a similar dynamic. Old style jobs and businesses going away, while new firms and jobs come into play. My suggestion to Rep Jackson: please read the following link and learn the history of the word Sabotage.
His kind of politics telling people that we can stop the march of technology to save jobs, that are no longer needed, is an act of Sabotage on American and to the people he is lying to.
