Jessica Camacho has joined Jensen Ackles in the cast of Amazon Prime Video thriller series Countdown.
The series recently received a 13-episode order at the streamer. The official logline states the show begins “following a suspicious murder in broad daylight, which leads to LAPD officer Mark Meachum (Ackles) being recruited to join a secret task force of undercover agents from all branches of law enforcement to investigate. But as the truth of a more sinister plot comes into focus, the team must overcome their conflicting personal agendas to unite and save a city of millions.”
Camacho will star as Amber Oliveras, a Special Agent with the DEA. The official character description states she has “14 years on the job. Undercover in multiple operations. She’s a badass who won’t take crap from anyone. She’s intrigued by this new opps team and though she seems to do well enough on her own, it’ll be a nice change of pace working with others.”
Her recent credits include the CBS/OWN series All Rise as well as the CBS cop drama SWAT. She has also appeared in Bosch: Legacy, which airs on Prime Video’s sister platform Freevee. The Flash, Sleepy Hollow, and Dexter.
Derek Haas created Countdown and serves as executive producer and showrunner. The series is produced by Amazon MGM Studios. Ackles and his wife Daneel’s production company, Chaos Machine, is currently under a first-look deal at Amazon MGM studios, while Haas is now under an overall deal at the studio. Countdown was developed as a starring vehicle for Ackles, who previously collaborated with Amazon with his role as Soldier Boy in the hit series The Boys.
