Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios are in talks with Spider-Man: Homecoming director Jon Watts about him returning to helm the sequel, per Variety.
Watts wasn’t signed on for a sequel prior to the first film’s release. Sony moved forward fast though when Watts began to be courted for other studio tentpoles.
Watts also co-wrote this year’s Homecoming with Jonathan Goldstein, John Francis Daley, Christopher Ford, Chris McKenna, and Erik Sommers. It has already grossed $472.8 million worldwide.
The Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel is due out July 5th 2019.
