Kia America is recalling 101,409 vehicles due a potentially deadly hazard with the vehicle’s Roof Molding, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced (January 18, 2024 NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 24V025000).
The recall includes certain 2023-24 Sportage and 2022-24 Carnival vehicles which the roof molding can become loose or detach while driving, which may have been a result of improper installation during vehicle assembly.
Warning indications include “visible lifting of roof molding or noise while driving,” per the NHTSA regulators in the recall report.
“A detached roof molding can create a road hazard for other vehicles, increasing the risk of a crash,” the NHTSA said.
