The Kyocera Echo looks like it might be in line for an update to Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) on August 1. Update 2.002SP is expected to land next Monday and move device from 2.2 (Froyo) to the latest build of Android for mobile phones. The update will also bring some Kyocera Echo specific treats including Swype 3.0.
Other improvements slated to arrive in the update include security patches and improved hardware performance, including better power management and a more responsive interface.
As is the case with Sprint’s typical rollouts, the update will become available over a four-day period.
