Maggie Gyllenhaal (The Dark Knight) will play Gladys Presley, Elvis’ mother, in Baz Luhrmann’s biopic about Elvis Presley and his manger Colonel Tom Parker which is setup at Warner Bros. Pictures.
The story revolves around the veteran manager (Tom Hanks) and the young singer (Austin Butler), who came from dirt-poor origins to become an icon who changed the course of music history.
Luhrmann co-wrote the script with Craig Pearce and it’s the helmer’s first feature since The Great Gatsby in 2013. Filming is expected to start this spring.
