Smith Micro has officially launched Manga Studio 5 EX, a new edition of its comics illustration software at Comic-Con. The EX releases are more professionally-oriented than their non-EX counterparts. In the case of Studio 5, the core EX addition is a multi-page story layout module, which let people organize complete comic books.
Layouts can accommodate specifications for Western or Japanese comics, and other formatting needs like two-page spreads. Completed projects can be exported to formats like TIFF, JPEG, and Photoshop.
Manga Studio 5 EX includes all of the powerful features from Manga Studio 5, as well as new tools for advanced users:
- Multiple-page story layouts – With Manga Studio 5 EX’s added ability to build multiple-page stories and projects, artists are able to streamline their creative process and conveniently access their story files in one area.
- Advanced text settings – Text tools have been updated to include adjustments to spacing, mixing of fonts, anti-aliasing and more.
- Backwards file compatibility – Manga Studio 5 EX provides users with backwards file compatibility with the Debut and EX versions of Manga Studio 4 for easy importing of previously drawn art and projects.
Manga Studio 5 EX is available for immediate purchase for $299.99. Previous owners of Manga Studio 4 and 5 will also receive upgrade pricing to Manga Studio 5 EX. Manga Studio 4 Debut and EX users will be able to upgrade at $149.99 and Manga Studio 5 owners will be able to upgrade at $99.99.
