Mark Zuckerberg dropped clues to the Facebook’s imminent native iPad app or possibly Project Spartan. The social network is due to “launch something awesome” next week developed entirely by its newer Seattle office. He wouldn’t mention the iPad app by name but hinted it was for mobile and tablets plans.
The app has been one of the more heavily requested titles for the iPad since it launched. Zuckerberg until recently downplayed the possibility and famously said the iPad isn’t mobile at an event. Apple’s tablet can display a full Facebook page but is limited in its interface and doesn’t have support for hardware features like cameras or location-based check-ins with Places.
Project Spartan is intended primarily for the iPhone and should bring at least some Facebook apps, such as those from Zynga, to HTML5.
