MIC Gadget this week released an adapter to give iPad and iPad 2 owners much-requested card format support. The CF Card Reader for iPad lets photographers with higher-end DSLRs and some older compact cameras load photos and videos directly to either of iPad. Format support on Apple’s tablet is currently the limiting factor and currently excludes RAW photos as well as some video formats, primarily those that exceed Apple’s official 720P, 30FPS video limit.
The reader does take modern UDMA-capable cards, although it will be capped at the USB 2.0 port’s speeds. A regular-sized USB port is built-in and will take any device that uses 20mA of power or less.
iPad owners can buy the CF Card Reader immediately for $29.90. The company’s earlier three-in-one SD, microSDHC and USB adapter is also known to work with the iPad 2.
