Mitsubishi has announced two new projectors. These projectors use ultra-short throw lenses instead of mirrors to create their projection. The company claims that this creates less image degradation and longer useful operation.
Both models are 3D-capable and have HDMI, USB, Ethernet, and 10-watt speakers. Contrast is rated at 3000:1. Both use TI DLP chips. Noise generated is only 28bB. The widescreen 1280×800 WD380U-EST has an output of 2,800 lumens and is portable and lightweight at 9.62 pounds. The 1024×768 XGA resolution XD380U-EST outputs 2,500 lumens. The short-throw design can broadcast a 70-inch WXGA image from within 23-inches of the projected surface.
One target market for these projectors is higher-education. Pricing has not been disclosed.
