Academy Award winners Morgan Freeman and Tommy Lee Jones will star in Academy Award nominee Ron Shelton’s Villa Capri. The film is being financed by Entertainment One (eOne) and Endurance Media. Billy Gerber and Endurance’s Steve Richards are producing. John Mass and Alan Simpson are executive producers on the film. Principal photography for the project is slated to begin in New Mexico this summer.

eOne will directly distribute the action comedy in Canada, the UK, Australia/New Zealand, Benelux and Spain. Sierra/Affinity will represent foreign sales for the remaining international rights starting at the 2016 Cannes Film Market.

Villa Capri is a two-hander action comedy, in the vein of Midnight Run about an ex-FBI agent (Jones) and an ex-mob lawyer in the witness protection program (Freeman) having to put aside their petty rivalry on the golf course to fend off a mob hit.

Freeman’s recent credits include Now You See Me 2, London Has Fallen and Lucy, and can next be seen in the reimagining of the classic Ben-Hur. Freeman has been a part of timeless cinematic moments for his roles in The Shawshank Redemption, Se7en and Million Dollar Baby, the latter of which earned him an Oscar for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role. Freeman has also been nominated for four additional Academy Awards and five Golden Globes, winning one for his role in Driving Miss Daisy.

Jones will be in the upcoming film Jason Bourne starring Matt Damon and Alicia Vikander. He won an Oscar for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for The Fugitive, and was nominated for Academy Awards for his roles in JFK and In the Valley of Elah.

Shelton most recently has written and has been developing a musical of his romantic comedy hit “Bull Durham” scheduled to open on Broadway in spring of 2017. Having written and directed numerous films during his career, he is also well known for White Men Can’t Jump, Tin Cup, Cobb, Dark Blue and Play it to the Bone. Shelton first emerged with his directorial debut of Bull Durham starring Kevin Costner, Susan Sarandon, and Tim Robbins, which he also wrote earning him an Academy Award nomination for Best Writing.
