Following its release last month, Lenovo has just pushed the first software update to the Moto Z DROID Edition. Updates have been a topic of controversy for the Moto Z, with Motorola confirming that the device would not be receiving monthly security updates as most Android devices currently do.
This new update, coming with the build number MCL24.246-36, and weighing in at 436MB, is now rolling out to Moto Z users on Verizon Wireless. So far it doesn’t seem like everyone is getting the update as our own Moto Z DROID Edition has not gotten it yet.
The update is still Android 6.0.1, and comes with an updated security patch level for July.
This software update includes enhancements, improvements and the latest Android security updates for your Moto Z Droid Edition/Moto Z Force Droid Edition. This update will restart your device. It is a good idea to charge your phone during the update if you can.
Verizon has yet to post release notes on this update, but seeing the size of the OTA, this looks to be more than just a security patch.
