Just now in…Windows 7 now comes with spark plugs. Ok, that is just a a joke. But Microsoft has signed a patent cross-licensing agreement with DENSO, a leading supplier of advanced automotive technology and spark plugs, to further the development of each company’s current and future products.
The agreement with DENSO builds on prior patent agreements Microsoft announced with leading makers of personal navigation devices, such as Alpine Electronics Inc., Pioneer Corp. and TomTom NV. Through this agreement, DENSO will gain access to Microsoft’s patents for its current and future product lines, including auto-drive and navigation technologies. Microsoft also will gain access to DENSO patents.
Although the details of the agreement have not been disclosed, the parties indicated that Microsoft is being compensated by DENSO. No technology is being licensed or exchanged as part of the agreement.
