Microsoft catered to gamers as well as phone and computer owners alike on Tuesday with a pair of new Xbox 360-labeled accessories. The Wireless Headset can talk to the Xbox 360 on its proprietary frequencies for in-game chat but also works as a standard Bluetooth headset. As such, it should talk to many cellphones and smartphones, Macs, and Windows PCs.
The Media Remote, in turn, is intended as a way to control both DVDs as well as Netflix, Zune Video Marketplace, and the upcoming live TV and YouTube features. IPTV on Mediaroom-ready TV providers like Telus also works. It still incorporates the basic non-analog Xbox 360 controls to get around the Dashboard without turning to the gamepad.
Both accessories will be in stores in early November, starting at $20 for the Media Remote and moving to $60 for the Wireless Headset.
