NBC has renewed its James Spader-led procedural The Blacklist for an eighth season. The renewal comes ahead of the second half of the show’s seventh season which returns March 20th with back-to-back episodes.
Megan Boone, Diego Klattenhoff, Harry Lennix, Amir Arison, and Hisham Tawfiq also co-star in the series which will continue Red and Liz’s story into another year.
At present, there are no plans to make the eighth season the final one either and studio Sony Pictures Television has closed new deals with the original cast members whose contracts were coming to an end with the entire cast set to return next season.
The show launched to a Live+Same Day rating of 3.6 and 12 million viewers, and in its current seventh season is still a reliable performer with a 1.6 rating and 8.1 million viewers in Live+7 for the season premiere and it ties as Friday’s top drama.
The Blacklist has one of the best international sales along with healthy Netflix streaming deal.
