A newly formed company, SOL Republic, has brought out its first two products in the form of on-ear and in-ear headphones. SOL, which stands for The Soundtrack Of Life, is starting off with the Tracks headphones, which are said to be the first interchangeable on-ear headphones. They have swappable headbands, speakers and cables, all available in unique colors, designs and performance levels.
The Tracks are also made with a new polymer called FlexTech that is said to make the headphones nearly unbreakable. The headphones purportedly deliver full bass and clear highs, as the company is made up of die-hard music fans and employs top audio engineers to match, although that wasn’t fully quantified.
The pictured Tracks start at $100 for the standard version but can be had in an “HD” model. The Amps in-ear headphones (not pictured) start at $60 and are also offered in an upgraded model. All ship later this month.
The company was co-founded by Monster Cable’s Kevin Lee, who also heads up the Beats by Dre series of headphones, and is hoping to pass on some his experiences from the bass-heavy but generally well-regarded audio gear.
