A new TV series based on Herbie the love bug movies is in the works at Disney XD, per a report from TVLine. This would not be the first time the VW has been on the small scree. Back in 1982 there was the TV series called Herbie, the Love Bug. The CBS TV series doe not even make to a full season it was pulled off the air after five episodes. The character of Herbie, a Volkswagen Beetle, first appeared in the 1968 film The Love Bug and returned in 1974’s Herbie Rides Again, 1977’s Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo, 1980’s Herbie Goes Bananas, the 1997 TV film The Love Bug starring Bruce Campbell (Evil Dead) and 2005’s Herbie Fully Loaded which starred Lindsey Lohan (Mean Girls).
