Kingston today released the SSDNow V+ 100, a SSD drive with a unique self-optimization feature. The drive has its own, internal “garbage” collection to properly clear out unused storage and optimize the SSD regardless of whether or not the OS supports the TRIM command.
The 2.5-inch drives are about 25 percent faster than before and top at about 230MB per second in read speeds and 180MB per second in writes. Capacities range from 64GB to 512GB and include a rare 96GB trim for those who need more than 64GB of space but don’t want the extra cost.
All of the new SSDNow drives are targeted at pros and are primarily available through corporate sales, with prices not publicly listed.
