Nintendo is planning to release a new Kirby game in 2014 on 3DS as the corporation looks to maintain the momentum of its successful handheld.
Though its official name was not disclosed, Nintendo has issued a trailer of the side-scrolling platformer playing on a 3DS screen, closing it with a message stating it would ship in 2014. The game marks the first Kirby game on Nintendo’s 3DS, which has managed to outsell the PS3 and Xbox 360 in key regions due to a strong and consistent line-up of star games such as Animal Crossing: New Leaf and Luigi’s Mansion 2.
The previous major Kirby game was the 20th Anniversary collection on Wii, released in 2012. A year prior, the company released Kirby’s Adventure on the Wii, which CVG’s review scored a 7 and said it “highlights the dangers of appealing to a very vocal minority”. The next game’s trailer can be found below.
