‘COCKNOSE’, ‘gimp’, ‘buttnugget’, ‘suicide’ and ‘ringpiece’ are now officially words Nintendo would rather you didn’t use in public social interactions on the 3DS handheld console.
It won’t come as any surprise to Nintendo 3DS owners that StreetPass won’t allow you to call yourself ‘Hitler’, ‘pimp’, ‘pecker’ or ‘tubgirl’, but the work of one Redditor has thrown up exactly which terms Nintendo has manually sat down and compiled. (I have house to clean and truck to wash, if you still have that much free time on your hands)
The banned profanities are expressed as 17 different .txt files, apparently for different global regions, and cover anything from basic, old-fashioned racism to all manner of advanced sexual interests and practices.
There is a problem, however. Some of the words are instructed to be censored no matter which characters come before or after.
“I remember people complaining about normal words or names being censored because they contained a vulgar word in them. For example, my friend’s last name has the word ‘vag’ in it,” said one concerned Redditor.
It is suspected that words in some languages, particularly German, may have been compiled simply by Googling lists of bad words, many of which may have contained ‘funny’ entries.
“I’ve never heard of the term ‘eunuch im neoprenanzug’ [eunuch wearing a wetsuit], and the only results are from those joke lists,” insisted one commenter on Reddit.
Another Redditor said: “And the best one is ‘arschgefickteseichhörnechn’.” (To find out what that means, look it up)
The English lists contain around 800 words and terms, the publishing of which now gives everybody something specific to shoot for when looking for ways to share how they defecate with the wider world.
