Nintendo will end its support for Regular Tourneys, one of two online tournament modes in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, in late September.
On September 30, players will no longer be able to select the “Regular” option on the main Tourney screen after connecting online; instead, the visible option will be removed entirely. However, players will still be able to create their own tournaments in Normal Tourney mode. Regular Tourneys allow players to choose from a list of pre-made tournaments set up by Nintendo. Each tourney has its own set of rules which dictates the number of players and stock.
The Nintendo 3DS version of Super Smash Bros. is unaffected however, as it does not feature an online Tourney mode. Instead, players connect online to battle with friends or random people worldwide. Nintendo thanked players for their understanding and continued support.
