Struggling to drum up consumer interest in its faltering Wii U console, Japanese game maker Nintendo will show off forthcoming games in Best Buy stores while this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo is going on. Nintendo revealed the partnership between the game company and the electronics retailer last week, tipping some of the games that will be shown off in Best Buy stores.
Next month will see Best Buy stores hosting demos of multiple Wii U games. Nintendo didn’t specify which titles would be shown off, but upcoming games include Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games, New Super Luigi U, and Pikmin 3. These titles may be among those on display, but Nintendo could take the opportunity to show off other games, including titles from its well-respected Mario or Zelda series.
The Wii U has, so far, been a disappointment for Nintendo. The company looked to follow-up to its massively successful Wii console with a touchscreen-enabled, HD-capable device, but consumer interest has flagged, dramatically impacting the firm’s bottom line.
