Oscar-nominated filmmaker Stephen Daldry (The Hours, Billy Elliott) is in early talks to direct a Star Wars spin-off film about Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Heat Vision reports that the project is in its earliest stages and there’s no script as yet. If Daldry signs, he would oversee the development and writing with Lucasfilm.
At this stage it’s unclear if Ewan McGregor will reprise the role which he played in the prequels. McGregor has previously said he would be open to playing the character again.
The Obi-Wan Kenobi standalone is one of several projects being developed by Lucasfilm and Disney with films about Yoda and bounty hunter Boba Fett also under consideration.
