Oceanhorn, the full name of which is Oceanhorn: Monster of Uncharted Seas, is already available on PC and mobile devices. It was released for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on September 7. No further details are available for the PS Vita version. A sequel, Oceanhorn: Knights of the Lost Realm, was announced in August. The big change for the sequel is that it’s not a top-down game like the first one, but instead uses a third-person camera to bring players closer to the action. Additionally, the sequel stars a new character, an unnamed young man that you can see in our previous report.
The Oceanhorn series contains obvious references to Nintendo’s Legend of Zelda franchise, riffing on its art and gameplay mechanics. FDG Entertainment says the game is a “carefully crafted love letter” to classic action adventure titles, containing influences from not only Zelda, but also Final Fantasy and Seiken Densetsu (known as Mana in the west).
Oceanhorn and its sequel are developed by Finnish studio Cornfox & Bros.
