Google has completely reworked its core mobile app for iPhone and iPod Touch owners. Now renamed as Google Search, the free app focuses on a new toolbar allows much more control over the results. A swipe gesture before or after the search brings up the bar and allows limiting results to media, social content and other categories added since the original Google Mobile App arrived.
The home page still allows quick voice search as well as image-based searches through Google Goggles. It’s also more intelligent and optionally resumes from the last results.
The app needs iOS 3.0 or later and is still a universal app with iPad support. But the when ran on an iPad, it still has its earlier look and interface so far. Google hasn’t commented if and when the interface changes will reach the iPad.
