Otterbox will officially launch its Defender series case for the iPad 2 on Friday, offering the same impact-absorbing protection found in the original Defender case with 20 percent less weight to match the iPad 2’s lighter, thinner specifications.
The Defender features a clip-on touch screen cover that offers a fold-out stand for either typing or viewing angles, a rigid polycarbonate shell with a foam interior to protect the iPad 2 from scratching and a durable silicone skin on the outside for better grip and shock absorption. The multi-layer technology, the company says, combines the best features of other cases into a single rugged package that can withstand extremes of environment. The case designs allows full access to all ports and functions, including both cameras.
The Defender case for iPad 2 will be available for order beginning Friday, and will be priced at $90. It is presently only available in black.
