Winners for the People’s Choice Awards 2015 were announced during a live broadcast hosted by Anna Faris and Allison Janney (“Mom”) at the Nokia Theater L.A. Live on Wednesday, January 7th (9:00 PM-11:00 PM, ET/delayed PT) on the CBS Television Network.
“The Big Bang Theory” took home Favorite TV Show and Favorite Network TV Comedy, while its star, Kaley Cuoco, nabbed Favorite Comedic TV Actress for the second consecutive year. “Grey’s Anatomy” scored Favorite Network TV Drama and additional awards for several cast members including Ellen Pompeo for Favorite Dramatic TV Actress. Robert Downey Jr. received both the Favorite Movie Actor and Favorite Dramatic Movie Actor awards, while the honor for Favorite Action Movie Actor went to Chris Evans. Lady Antebellum took home Favorite Country Group after performing “FreeStyle,” while Iggy Azalea was on hand to accept Favorite Hip-Hop Artist and perform “Beg For It.” Fall Out Boy, who took home Favorite Alternative Band last year, performed their hit “Centuries.”
The People’s Choice Awards 2015 featured the presentation of the third annual People’s Choice Award for Favorite Humanitarian, presented by Walgreens, to Ben Affleck, in recognition of his work with the Eastern Congo Initiative, a grant-making and advocacy based organization that partners with the Congolese people to increase the quality and quantity of investments in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Past winners of this award include Sandra Bullock in 2013 and Jennifer Hudson in 2014.
Waterford, a heritage brand synonymous with celebration, is the maker of the 2015 People’s Choice Awards. Designed and hand-cut in Ireland by Waterford artisans, these bespoke, sparkling crystal trophies will have a new home with each talented winner. Waterford has also custom designed the special awards for Affleck and the winner of Favorite TV Icon, Betty White.
Now in its 41st year, the People’s Choice Awards is the only major awards show voted on entirely by the public for fan favorites in movies, music and television. The People’s Choice official website at PeoplesChoice.com houses the voting platform where fans determine the categories, nominees and winners for the annual awards show. Every year, potential nominees are determined by national ratings averages, box-office grosses, music sales and PeoplesChoice.com data, then vetted through EPoll Market Research. Fred Nelson is the President of People’s Choice, and Mark Burnett and Jane Mun are the Executive Producers of the awards show. The awards show, and digital, mobile and social extensions of the brand are owned by Procter & Gamble, and produced by United Artist Media Group (UAMG) a joint venture among MGM, Mark Burnett, Roma Downey and Hearst Corporation.
