Star Fox for Wii U will be playable at this year’s E3, iconic game designer Shigeru Miyamoto said during a recent interview with YouTube channel Smosh Games.
“We’ll have a version of it ready at E3 that everyone can play,” he said.
In the video below, Miyamoto talks about Pikmin, Splatoon and more before moving on to discuss Star Fox around the 13:40 mark. Star Fox was announced at last year’s E3 as one of three projects at the time intended to showcase the GamePad’s features.
“One of the questions that we often get is ‘How is the GamePad being used in any particular game?'” Miyamoto said. “Star Fox is a game where having two screens is really important and it works really well.”
During last year’s demo, the game featured the Arwing in flight and combat, as well as a new vehicle — a helicopter with a deployable robot. The GamePad was used to display the cockpit of Fox’s ship, while the TV screen featured more traditional Star Fox gameplay.
Star Fox doesn’t have a release date yet. However, it is expected to launch before The Legend of Zelda for Wii U, which is slated for release this year.
