ProgeCAD has unveiled the new version of iCADMac 2014, an AutoCAD alternative tailored to OS X users. The software provides full compatibility with DWG files — the CAD standard format recognized officially worldwide — as well as a vast range of tools and features to enhance 2D design and 3D modeling. Additionally, drawings created with iCADMac can be visualised and edited on iOS devices in both the DWG and PDF file formats.

The current revision to iCADMac is the first CAD software for Mac enabling export from DWG to 3D PDF to obtain an interactive 3D model of a project, displayable and editable simply with Adobe Reader. The PDF format facilitates sharing and revision of 3D models within a design team, or among suppliers and customers.

Other features of the software allow conversion from PDF to DWG, and 22,000 ready-to-use blocks in the iCADLib module. There is also free access to Traceparts and Cadenas portals, better support of OS X Mountain Lion, Mavericks compatibility, in-place text editing, new express tools, and enhanced export to other popular file formats (SAT, STL, EPS).

A 30-day, fully-functional demo is available at the company’s website. Upgrades from previous versions are available for $499, with a single license available for $794 for a limited time. Support subscription services are available for $375 annually.
