PS Vita Gets Six New Video Apps

Vita VideoThe PlayStation Vita is getting six new video apps, three of which are available today on the handheld device, according to a post on the PlayStation Blog.

Starting today, PS Vita owners can download the Crunchyroll app to stream anime; NHL GameCenter Live to stream out-of-market hockey games with a subscription; and Quello, a service that streams concerts and music documentaries.

In the spring, the PS Vita will get apps for Gaiam TV, which includes fitness and yoga classes; Hulu Plus, which will offer streaming network television with a subscription next week; and Redbox Instant by Verizon, which will ship with a free month of movies for new subscribers.

The new video apps join a host of existing PS Vita apps that include Crackle, NBA Game Time, Netflix, Skype and YouTube. Sony’s PlayStation 4 launched with 11 entertainment apps, including several that are headed to PS Vita. The HBO Go app arrived on PlayStation 3 earlier this month. A PS4 version will follow.
