The PSP Go’s launch October 1st will come with easily downloadable small games to match, known as Minis, Sony said during its Gamescom expo keynote.
Mini titles will be capped at 100MB or less to make them quick downloads over Wi-Fi. It appears Sony hope this new market segment for the PSP will encourage smaller, more independent developers to produce titles for the PSP, while not needing the budgets to do full blown PSP games. Also should help Sony get those iPhone and Android devs to makes for the PSP platform. Phones games are starting to cut into the market share for both the PSP and DS platforms. Nintendo has recently acknowleged that Apple was hurting DS sales.
Prices and other details weren’t made public, but up to 50 games should be ready by the end of the year.
