Universal has won the rights to the action-adventure pitch “The Real McCoy,” with Chris Pratt attached to star.
The pitch was written by Bill Dubuque (“The Judge”) and revolves around the famous bootlegger William “Bill” McCoy, whose life may have inspired the phrase “the real McCoy,” referring to the purity of his liquor.
Tom McNulty is producing alongside Michael De Luca — “McCoy” is De Luca’s first project after the producer signed a first-look deal with the studio.
Universal is already firmly in the Pratt business, with the star headlining this summer’s “Jurassic World” and set as the lead in “Cowboy Ninja Viking” for the studio.
