Samsung is releasing a new size of portable media player to its Galaxy Player range. Using a design that makes it look like a chunkier version of the Samsung Galaxy S III, the Galaxy Player 5.8 has a 5.8-inch, 960×540 LCD AMOLED screen. The display may be bigger in size than its mobile counterpart, but its resolution is far lower.
Although the processor remains undisclosed, it has been revealed it will be in both 16GB and 32GB storage versions with an additional microSD card slot for a further 32GB. A VGA front-facing camera is joined by Wi-Fi in b, g, and n flavors; Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, and receive power from a 2,500 mAh battery. Android 4.0 with the TouchWiz overlay also makes an appearance, as well as the Learning Hub seen in the Note 10.1 announcement.
Details relating to pricing and global release dates remains absent, but further details could come out during IFA 2012, starting later this week in Berlin, alongside the widely speculated Galaxy Note II reveal.
