Those in the U.S. shouldn’t be jealous of other parts of the world for too much longer, as Samsung has revealed that it plans to release the Samsung Galaxy S II smartphone in the U.S. in August. The Galaxy S II, which has set sales records for Samsung since its debut, offers a dual-core, 1.2GHz processor and Android 2.3 Gingerbread with the latest version of Samsung’s TouchWiz UI.

Shin Jong-kyun, president of Samsung’s mobile business and digital imaging, spilled the beans to reporters in Korea when he said “We expect to release the Galaxy S2 in the U.S. market sometime in August.” Unfortunately, we don’t have any other details for the release, such as the exact date, which carriers will have versions of the Galaxy S II, and what it will cost when it does hit shelves. It has been speculated and rumored that it will be coming to AT&T, Verizon Wireless, and Sprint, much like the original Galaxy S released last year that saw variations come out for each carrier.
