Samsung’s Galaxy S smartphones will get Android 2.3 firmware, according to a Twitter post from Samsung’s Indian arm this week. This comes after an earlier answer about evaluating whether the latest Google OS will arrive on the handsets was in question. There should be no technical issue stopping Samsung from doing this, as the Google-branded but Samsung-built Nexus S is said to ship with Android 2.3 later this month.
Galaxy S phones are only just now getting Android 2.2 months after launch, suggesting it may not be until sometime into 2011 that 2.3 reaches any devices.
