Samsung Electronics America will buy Dacor, a company that manufacturers luxury kitchen appliances, Samsung announced Wednesday. The acquisition reflects Samsung’s continued investment in large home appliances and an interest in the high-end appliance market, where products like ranges and refrigerators carry price tags that reach into five figures.
Dacor is a California-based company founded in 1965. The company will keep its name and US operations and manufacturing though it will be a wholly owned subsidiary of Samsung, according to a news release from Samsung. The release didn’t provide information on the value of the sale or when it will be final. Samsung declined to comment further.
