NBC in 1977 aired a TV movie called Raid on Entebbe directed by Irvin Kershner (The Empire Strikes Back). The movie focused on Israeli commandos how freed the 102 hostages aboard and destroy the Ugandan Air Force MiG-17 and MiG-21 fighters to prevent a retaliation. Prime Minister of Isreal Benjamin Netanyahu brother, Yonatan Netanyahu, died leading the raid.
The film will follow the hijackers, the hostages, then-Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabiin and upcoming Prime Minister Shimon Peres dealing with whether or not to try to free the hostages or to negotiate. It will also follow the French crew who refused to leave when they were released with the other French hostages.
7 Days in Entebbe will be released on March 16, 2018 in the U.S.
