Seth Rogen is attached to play iconic CBS newsman Walter Cronkite in Newsflash, a film dealing with the news coverage of the assassination of U.S. President John F. Kennedy at Stampede Ventures.
Set on November 22nd 1963, it was considered the day television network news came of age and cemented Cronkite as the most trusted TV newsman voice of America. Other characters include producer Don Hewitt, their boss Jim Aubrey, and a young but dogged reporter named Dan Rather.
Mark Ruffalo is reportedly being courted for Hewitt, and Bryan Cranston for Aubrey with the latter serving as an antagonist threatening to kill the evening newscast because it wasn’t showing profit.
Ben Jacoby penned the project which David Gordon Green (Stronger) will direct next year, likely right after he wraps production on the new Halloween. Greg Silverman and Adam Kolbrenner will produce the film which aims to be released November 2018.
