While point-and-shoot cameras have been largely replaced by smartphones for casual picture-taking, there is one area where they outpace cell phones — optical zooming.
Sony on Monday revealed its latest point-and-shoot, the HX80 with 30x optical zoom, 18.2MP Exmore R CMOS sensor, five-axis image stabilization, 1080p HD video recording, and a three-inch LCD screen and retractable OLED electronic viewfinder.
The camera features Wi-Fi and NFC for easy transfer of images to mobile devices, and will retail for $350 when it goes on sale next month.
