Sony has apparently slashed its Google TV lineup once again, bringing the entry price down to $295 for the 24-inch model. When the connected TVs first arrived on the market, the 24-inch variant commanded $599 before the price was dropped to $399 several weeks ago. The 32-, 40- and 46-inch models are now available for $498, $723 and $961, respectively, bringing a $400 discount to the largest size.
The company admitted late last year that early adoption was poor, after the devices received a number of negative reviews. Aside from the connected devices, the company’s overall TV sales are said to be lackluster through the beginning of the year.
Sony’s Google TV devices will eventually be outfitted with updated software based on Android 3.1, however it remains unclear if the upgrade will help overcome other limitations, such as content availability, that has been credited with holding the platform back.
