Sony has teased the release of a new professional-level video camera. An image for an event on October 30th appeared on the company’s Facebook account and shows camera equipment marked with CineAlta, Sony’s high-end cinematography brand, along with a hashtag for something called “The New F.”
The message on the social network mentions that the new release will be 4K-capable with a 50Mbps data rate and a 4:2:2 color space. It has been suggested by Sony Alpha Rumors that the new offering will replace the now-discontinued F3 PL mount camera, though it could end up being closer to the CineAlta F65 that shipped in January with a $65,000 pricetag.
Broadcasters and production companies are slowly gearing up to create content for the new 4K televisions. The sets have started to go on sale, and currently have little in the way of programming that uses the high-resolution format, the increase of which may drive sales.
